Background

The world today is getting more open and dynamic due to borderless trade and travel, 24/7 instant news cycle, and inexpensive mass communications and social media but these are complex trends as there are challenges which arise with the opportunities. These strategic changes have raised concerns about the role of traditional and local cultures, as globalization’s effects have significant economic implications as well as cultural impacts.

This does not mean countries should try to escape globalization but rather to adapt to achieve the maximum positive benefits so that all nations can prosper in peace, justice, and friendship.

Therefore, as this historical juncture it is important to examine the strategic role of culture in creating and strengthening the relationship among countries, to learn to appreciate cultural differences, and to develop policies that national and local cultures can flourish in an age of globalization.

To this end the World Cultural Forum is being convened, with the participation and support of key countries and international organizations from every corner of the globe.
